Petal Enthusiast (n): A person who loves flowers zealously and wants to arrange them in unique and beautiful ways to bring good cheer and blessings to others.
Ever since the beginning of Floral & Mineral, I've been on the look out for fellow 'Petal Enthusiasts' to form a posse of creative, talented and self-deemed florists. Together we would splash beautiful, fresh and unique arrangements into homes all over Australia. These arrangements would be made with love, soul, wild garden greenery and bits and pieces we forage and collect from around the traps.
Lucy Dessington is the very first girl to join the very enthusiastic bloom loving ranks. She is a born lover of flowers with a 5 generation heritage of floral designers. She's cute, nifty, creative and willing to splash her blooms all over Kalamunda, Perth WA.

Let's learn more about Lucy...
Lucy, tell us about your flower background?
"I feel like petals are in my blood. I used to go for sleepovers at my grandma “Marnie’s” house and wake up the next morning to pick flowers from her garden and from the markets to take to her church to do the flower arrangements. She would tell everyone at church the next day about her “little helper” and my face would be beaming. Marnie is also known for her beautiful posies that she hand delivers to friends and family on all sorts of occasions- I call this “the ministry of flowers”.
My Great Grandma “Nin”(99) is also a petal enthusiast and water colour artist who helped me with the Button Holes for the groomsman at my wedding, she also did my mum’s wedding flowers (a dried flower bouquet and flower crown!).
I was very lucky to have 5 generations of my family working on my own wedding flowers which was very special. My cousin Catherine, who owns and runs the incredible Flower Girl Singapore business (http://www.flowergirl.com.sg/) flew in especially.
My mum also loves to remind me that my earliest words included“agapanthus” and “plumbego”... probably inspired by my mums love for gardening".
What inspires you? Gardens that remind me of the Creator, Strong women (especially mothers)
